The building of the Breedlove Guitar begins with hand selected, quarter-sawn woods that are naturally aged, not kiln dried. Woods chosen from around the world for their capacity to amplify the string's voice and color tone. From top to bottom, Breedlove Guitars deliver what others only promise.

Select Alaska Sitka or Engelmann Spruce, Western Red Cedar or Redwood are used for tops while backs and sides evolve from American Maple, Black Walnut and Sycamore, Honduran Mahogany, East Indian Rosewood or Hawaiian Koa. The properties of tonal, sound color and projection are characteristics shared in common by these woods, but in different degrees from one type or species of wood to another. American Walnut body guitars featuring California Redwood tops are highly prized by Breedlove Guitar owners. Rosewood and Cedar combinations are also in increasing demand.

Tighter waisted than most guitars and featuring a smaller sound hole positioned higher on the instrument, the Breedlove Guitar's physical characteristics distinguish it from everything else out there. This re-proportioned design and interior construction with its unique bracing system frees more of the top for vibration and resonance. It is made possible through the utilization of a patented* support truss under the bridge. The guitar leaves the luthier's bench with a better voice...built in.
